Tauranga Real Estate Guide To The Bay Of Plenty - About Buying, Selling Residential Properties In The BOP New Zealand

The Bay of Plenty BOP is situated to the east of the Kaimai-Mamaku Ranges and to the south of the Coromandel peninsula in the North Island of New Zealand. The BOP is a wonderful place to live and Tauranga real estate is in demand.

Tauranga is New Zealand's sixth largest urban area and has the largest population in the Bay of Plenty region. The Bay of Plenty is renowned for its warm, sunny climate, long white beaches, beautiful harbours, and the relaxed lifestyle. Visitors are always interested in White Island and Mauao (Mount Maunganui), which the locals affectionally refer to as "The Mount".

Mt Maunganui, Welcome Bay, or any where in the Bay of Plenty is a fabulous place to vacation or holiday with friends or family. The Bay of Plenty BOP region has a range of accommodation options for weekend getaways or longer stays.

Tauranga is situated at the entrance to a wonderful natural harbour protected by Matakana Island and the (extinct) volcano of Mauao. The city is positioned on the south-east edge of the Harbour. The glorious views add to the values of real estate Tauranga NZ.

The city has a busy commercial centre with wonderful shopping, cafes and boutiques. Downtown real estate is valuable.

Tauranga has two large marinas with space for hundreds of boats, launches and yachts. There are several charter boat operators available for fishing charters (many fishers dream of catching a Marlin in the offshore waters offshore).

The Bay of Plenty economy relies to a large extent on Tourism and Horticulture (mainly Avocado and KiwiFruit growing). Other important contributors to the local economy are Forestry, Viticulture, Housing, and Pastoral farming. Residential real estate is a growth area too.

The Port is the largest in New Zealand and plays a pivotal role in the success of the Bay of Plenty region. The area has grown to become one of New Zealand's main areas for commerce and international trade.

As at the June 2009 the population was estimated at 118,200, which represents a 300% increase for the city in just over 25 years. It's not surprising residential property Tauranga values have increased too.

Much of the increase has come from retirees seeking a warmer climate and relaxed lifestyle. Retirement style dwellings have increased in numbers and boosted the real estate market.

Housing in BOP suburbs like Welcome Bay, Gate Pa, Merivale, Greerton, Papamoa and other areas, is particularly popular as local residential properties represent good value for money. Most suburbs are well served by shopping centres and schooling. Housing prices in the city centre (like other cities in New Zealand) have increased due to high land values. The Avenues is an example of this. Residential real estate in Tauranga New Zealand has a bright future.

Shopping centres include Fraser Cove Fraser Cove at 239-269 Fraser Street, Fashion Island Papamoa and Nelson, and the Palm Beach Plaza on Domain Road Papamoa. The BOP has some beautiful flora and fauna and a visit to Memorial Park is a must.
